Risk Management ~ Knowledge

A comprehensive look at the world of Risk Management

pictureThe Association for Project Management (APM) has introduced a new group of qualifications based on the understanding and application of skills. The first of these to be released is the Risk Management Specific Qualification (RM SQ). This risk management training is presented in two courses: Knowledge and Practitioner.

The Risk Management Knowledge is a two day course and the Practitioners is a one day course based on the practical application of risk management on projects. The Knowledge will be tested by a multiple choice type exam and the Practitioner by a case study based exam.

There risk management courses are designed to build on the knowledge gained in the Association for Project Management foundation qualification, the APMP (Association for Project Management Professional), but it will not be essential to have completed the APMP prior to completing the risk management course.

This Risk Management training course is based on a Syllabus produced by the Association for Project Management Specific Interest Group (SIG) called the PRAM Guide (Project Risk Analysis and Management), although reference to other best practice publications are also covered.

PRAM is a five point process:

  • Define and Focus
  • Identification of Risk
  • Risk Analysis
  • Risk Planning
  • Risk Manangement

The course presentation is covered in the Contents and Timetable shown in the Information Pack which can be downloaded from this page.

The two qualifications offered can be gained after the course by successfully completing examinations managed by the Association for Project Management. We arrange these for you at the British Council or similarly approved examination centres.

These are excellent courses and is focused on achieving practical skills. The Knowledge is completed first followed up with the Practitioners course.
