Description:
This one day course is accredited by the Association for Project
Management (APM).
The Association for Project Management has introduced risk management as
a skill course and has provided a Knowledge and a Practitioner skill course
in Risk Management. Both these risk management courses are designed to build
on the knowledge gained in the Association for Project Management foundation
qualification, the APMP, but it will not be essential to have completed the
APMP prior to completing these risk management courses. These course are
based upon the PRAM Guide – 2nd edition and lead to what are known as
specific qualifications (SQ) which comprise two parts – knowledge and
practice. We offer here the second of these courses – Risk Management
Practice.
While the Knowledge course covers all the knowledge required to
successfully complete the RMSQ examinations on knowledge and practice, the
Practitioner’s examination also seeks to test your practical experience.
Therefore, the Practitioner’s course attempts to provide an understanding of
the practice of risk management in projects and business. You will need some
experience as well as the knowledge to successfully complete the
Practitioner’s examination.
The Practitioner’s course anticipates that you have completed the risk
management knowledge course and are therefore familiar with the PRAM Guide
2nd Edition and the risk management syllabus.
How would you identify, assess, plan and manage a new oilfield, or a
large IT project, an airport or an entertainment facility? We start by
developing a risk management plan and then we look at the very issues which
will determine the success or failure of the project. The emphasis will be
on the practice of risk management. The case studies are very interesting
and will provide you with the essential experience you need to pass the RMSQ
practitioner’s exam.
A three and a quarter hour written exam is made available by the APM
which leads to the second of two qualifications – the Practice (RMSQ2).
This is an excellent course and is focused on achieving practical
skills.
Vital Benefits:
Learning is one thing but putting that knowledge to practical use is
quite another. This one day course is therefore focused on providing the
practical awareness necessary to pass the RMSQ2 examination. Even if you do
not intend to take the exam, this course unleashes the benefits of risk
management by demonstrating the practical application of it. This course
provides the following vital benefits:
- A practical application for the risk management knowledge developed
in the first course Risk Management Knowledge
- A clear understanding of how risk management is used in practice
based upon practical case studies
- All the knowledge and practical experience to pass the RMSQ2
examination.
- A proven ability to manage risk on a project
Objectives:
The RMSQ2 qualification is evidence of your ability to manage risk and
ensure the project is allowed to be successful. In this course, it is our
objectives to:
- Provide the practitioner “experience” required to successfully
complete the examination.
- Provide good case studies to practise on
- Provide an understanding of the impact of culture on risk
identification
- Provide the examination if required
Topics:
This one day course is more of a workshop and is developed to provide the
working knowledge of risk management to pass the examination. Whilst we will
reflect on the PRAM Guide throughout the day, it is expected the delegates
will have completed the first risk course Risk Management Knowledge. The key
topic therefore is to convert this knowledge to practice through the use of
several realistic case studies:
- The PRAM Guide where required
- Typical questions for practice
- Examination technique
- Practical support knowledge
Who to Attend:
A practitioner’s qualification (RMSQ) is well worth having if you are a
project manager, a risk manager or if you play an important role in the
project environment. This course is for:
- The client staff
- The project managers
- The project staff
