Description:
This one-day course on managing underperforming staff covers an important business
skill which can substantially change the bottom line.
There is always a bottom five percent of performers and it is quite normal to let
this group go. However, underperformance may extend far higher into the body of
the business than five percent, maybe even fifty, and so this is a very important
performance issue which could result in substantial savings. Increasing performance
is simple once we have a system of measurement in place. Simply look at the figures
and change the environment and watch the figures change. The problem is that in
all but the simplest situations measuring performance is not quite so simple.
This course looks into the nature of performance and its measurements. What are
the business objectives and how is this mapped down through the management structure?
What should be included in or excluded from an evaluation of performance? What is
the impact of adverse environmental issues on performance and what is cost effective
way to fix it? Is the bureaucracy getting in the way of better performance and what
other factors affect performance that we can change or improve? Do people settle
into a comfortable level of working and then arrange the environment around them
for protection?
Competence and skill play a major role in performance and so how do we categorise
these attributes. As for the work itself, is there another better way of performing
it?
This course will look at the whole story of performance to see how the bottom line
of the business can be improved. Performance is simply the end result of many factors
which can always be improved. But it needs to be sustainable and so quick fixes
are not the solution. This is an important productivity issue with substantial benefits.
An Attendance Certificate will be provided at the end of this skill course.
